Wallabies lock banned after Japan red card

Wallabies lock Miles Amatosero has been suspended for dangerous play that led to a red card in his side’s 35-32 win over Japan in Osaka.

A disciplinary committee ruled that Amatosero had been guilty of dangerous play after his shoulder made contact with the head of Japan captain Warner Dearns at a 33rd-minute ruck.

As a result, he will miss three matches, Saturday’s return Test against Japan in Townsville, a Shute Shield club match and the first Test against Argentina in San Salvador de Jujuy on 29 August.

However, Amatosero could return for the Los Pumas clash if he takes part in a World Rugby coaching intervention programme.
