The 5FM presenter took to Instagram days after the 32nd South African Music Awards, held at the Sun City Superbowl in the North West on 15 August 2026, to thank Nyovest for making the night a memorable one.

Addressing him as her “Amazing #SAMA32 Chomi” and “Incredible Fellow Host,” Potelwa said working alongside the award-winning rapper helped her understand why she had waited so long for her opportunity to host at the SAMAs.

“You were one of the reasons I understood why God made me wait to host at the @thesamas_,” she wrote, adding that she believed the moment was made even more special because she got to share it with “an international superstar,” a “comedic King,” a “Born Entertainer” and “the dopest human.”

The pairing of Potelwa and Nyovest had generated considerable interest ahead of the ceremony, with the two bringing different strengths to the SAMA32 stage. Nyovest, one of South Africa’s most recognisable hip-hop figures, brought his larger-than-life personality and extensive performance experience, while Potelwa represented a new generation of broadcasters.

For Potelwa, the opportunity was particularly meaningful. She admitted that she was “beside myself” when she discovered that she would be co-hosting with Nyovest, whom she affectionately described as the “King of the North West” and the “Don of the Dons.”

Her praise went beyond his ability to command an audience. Potelwa also highlighted Cassper Nyovest’s preparation, professionalism and attention to detail, saying she learned a great deal from working alongside him.

“I couldn’t have done it with anyone else!!! Your mind and your attention to detail are to be studied! You’re an actual genius and what an honour it was to see your excellence up close!!! I learnt so much from you,” she wrote.

She went on to celebrate his ability to move seamlessly between music and live presenting, describing him as a performer who has entertainment “coursing through their veins.”

“You’re a SUPERSTAR that has entertainment coursing through their veins. The stage is your home and what a privilege to have hosted with you!” Potelwa added.

Her biggest compliment came when she labelled Nyovest a “GENERATIONAL TALENT,” praising him for proving that his entertainment skills extend far beyond music.

“A King who OWNS PERFORMING and can take on presenting and do a damn good job!!! A GENERATIONAL TALENT is what you are, Cass!!!!” she declared.

Potelwa ended the heartfelt message by already looking ahead to another possible collaboration. With a playful challenge, she asked Nyovest whether they should return as a hosting duo for next year’s ceremony.

“Mna Ndithi Let’s Do SAMA 33 … uthini wena?” she wrote, which translates to, “I’m saying let’s do SAMA 33 … what do you say?”

She signed off by expressing her gratitude and affection for the rapper, thanking him for everything and making it clear that the experience would remain a special memory.

The tribute also reflects the chemistry the pair brought to the SAMA32 stage as they navigated performances, award presentations and the unpredictable demands of live television. Nyovest later acknowledged that the ceremony was not without its imperfections, but maintained that he enjoyed the experience.

For Potelwa, however, the occasion appears to have become more than just another presenting credit. Her promise that she would tell her children about the weekend underlines the personal significance of a night that allowed her to share one of South African entertainment’s biggest stages with one of its most recognisable stars.

Whether Potelwa and Nyovest will reunite for SAMA33 remains uncertain, but if the presenter’s glowing tribute is anything to go by, she would have no hesitation in doing it all over again.
