Cassper Reflects On SAMA32 Hosting Debut: “It Wasn’t Perfect.” Cassper Nyovest may have walked onto the SAMA32 stage with the pressure of making his hosting debut count, but by the time the curtains closed, the rapper was simply grateful for the experience.

The North West-born star co-hosted the 32nd South African Music Awards at the Sun City Superbowl on Saturday night alongside 5FM presenter Zanele Potelwa. Hours after the show, Cassper Nyovest took to social media to share his honest reaction to the night, admitting that while everything did not go perfectly, he had an absolute blast.

“Hahaha man I had sooo much fun tonight !!! It wasn’t perfect but man it was an amazing experience!!! Thank you so much for tuning in !!! Thank you for the love !!! I appreciate it soo much !!! Your comments mean everything !!! #SAMA32,” he wrote.

The moment marked a significant full-circle turn for Nyovest, whose relationship with the SAMAs had been complicated for years. After roughly a decade of criticism, tension and boycotts involving the awards, he returned to the ceremony in one of its biggest roles as host of the “Homecoming Edition.”

The pairing with Potelwa was also fitting for the theme of the night. Nyovest represented the pride of a homegrown star welcoming the SAMAs back to the North West, while Potelwa brought her own energy to an edition built around the idea that “The Future Sounds Like Now Now.”

Together, the two kept the show moving through performances, awards and plenty of unpredictable live-TV moments. Nyovest also stepped into performance mode, joining Lordkez on stage in a moment that quickly became one of the talking points of the evening.

His hosting debut earned plenty of reactions from viewers and fellow artists, with fans praising his humour, personality and ability to command the stage. Some even suggested that the SAMAs should bring him back for another hosting gig.

The ceremony itself delivered a packed night of major wins. Gospel star HLE took home Album of the Year for The Ground We’re On as well as Female Artist of the Year. Maskandi heavyweight Mzukulu claimed Male Artist of the Year, while global star Tyla received the AfriPure International Achievement Award for the second time.

Tyla used her acceptance speech to champion African unity and invited fellow artists onto the stage, adding another memorable moment to a ceremony that celebrated the continent’s diverse musical landscape.

Veteran music executive and artist Oskido was also honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award, dedicating the recognition to the late Lebo Mathosa.

From gospel and amapiano to maskandi and traditional sounds, SAMA32 showcased the breadth of South African music, while Nyovest found himself at the centre of a new chapter in his own relationship with the awards.

The rapper had previously spoken about making peace with the SAMAs and appreciating the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of artists who had hosted the ceremony before him. On this night, though, there was little talk of the past.

Instead, Nyovest appeared to embrace every part of the experience, from the nerves and laughs to the inevitable slip-ups that come with live television.

For Mufasa, it was never about delivering a flawless performance. It was about enjoying the moment, connecting with the audience and proving that sometimes the best nights are the ones where you simply let yourself have fun.

Not perfect, perhaps. But definitely memorable.
