Duhan van der Merwe will make his first appearance of the season when Edinburgh host the Lions in Friday night’s URC match at Hive Stadium.
The Scotland and British & Irish Lions wing has recovered from an ankle injury and replaces Malelili Satala in one of four changes to the starting XV.
Van der Merwe’s return is a boost for coach Sean Everitt, whose side tops the log after winning their first three matches.
Geordie Gwynn starts on the opposite wing, replacing Darcy Graham, who is being rested as a precaution after experiencing calf tightness.
