Rassie Erasmus has further strengthened his lock resources ahead of next weekend’s double-header in Gqeberha.
Adré Smith has become the latest player to receive a Springbok call-up. The experienced Stormers enforcer has been added to the expanded squad ahead of the Springboks’ clash against the Barbarians and South Africa A’s encounter with Zimbabwe at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on 20 June.
Smith arrives with 57 Stormers appearances to his name and adds further depth to a position that has received significant attention from the national coaching staff in recent weeks.
His call-up follows that of fellow Stormers lock Ruben van Heerden, who joined the squad last week as Erasmus and his management team cast a wide net in their preparations for a demanding international season.

The addition of Smith further underlines the Springboks’ focus on building depth and evaluating options as they begin laying the groundwork for the months ahead.
The squad members spent the weekend with their families and will reconvene in Johannesburg on Sunday before resuming preparations on Monday.
Attention will then shift to Gqeberha, with the Springboks and SA A squad scheduled to travel to the Eastern Cape on Wednesday.
