Former Wallabies hooker Jeremy Paul slams the World Rugby “idiot” who brought in the brake-foot law.
The law requires hookers to keep one foot forward in the middle of the scrum tunnel during the “crouch” and “bind” phases to maintain stability and prevent dangerous neck and spine pressure known as axial loading.
Following the All Blacks’ 43-28 defeat against the Springboks in Baltimore, assistant coach Neil Barnes slammed referee Karl Dickson for twice penalising hooker Codie Taylor early in the match for a brake-foot infringement.
Barnes said it’s a law “which no one really gives a s**t about, but the referees are concentrating on”.
